A tiny chenge on the site
Hey!

Once again, thank You for the comments posted previously, I tried to answer them all. You're wonderful and one of the reasons I want to create.

Now, as for the change: I've been notified that the progressive JPEG is slowing down some of the connections. As the actual difference in size is minimal, i've changed the pages to a regular JPEG. It should work fine right now. If there's still any glitch, let me know. I don't want to shrink down the pages too much, as the quality loss is too great.

Another change deals with the navigation: now You can turn the pages of the comic by clicking on it. It's more intuitive that way.

And, as a teaser and a proof I started work on chapter 2, here's the very first page:   a teaser

There are two new characters, Katerina and Malchus, who together with Tremain form the Trinity Council.
More to come, deffinatelly.

Hey looking good, keep it up. Just out of interest do you know where the story is going?

Don't drive away from the relationship of the character in the first chapter, the main guy, girl and his lady friend.

I think you'd make a pretty darn good graphic novel. Needs a lot of tweaks with composition but you've got what it takes :-)

Just curious one of your character; Katerina, is this supposed to read Katrina? I have a niece called Katrina so it seems a little confusing. Not to worry if you intended to have the 'e'.

I wouldn't worry too much about compression, just keep it around 800-900pxls high, save for web in photoshop and stick with high jpg. Each file will be around 80-100k. But i think most people can handle it these days.

Cheers - Dave.

Thanks!

As for the story: it's divided into three seasons, sort of like a TV show. Each story-arch deals with one part of the girl's (Argent's) life. Kind of. I have the beginning, midle and the end planned from the start, but things do change in between.

The new characters won't drive the story away from Nate and co. Actually, Nate is the closest thing the comic has to a main character, so the relationships he has with other characters are a pivotal point in the plot...

The name is actually Katarina;) A cross between Katrina and Catherine, and actually a more slavic name in sound.

Aaah i see :)

Well keep up the good work, if the stories good then it will carry itself.

Do you work in this kind of industry? illustrative etc? perhaps you should. I see so much crap on the shelves now-a-days and then i see something like your work on the web and think, where's the justice in the world :)

I feel all inspired :) perhaps i'll play around with an old idea myself. Maybe you can share a thought when i get something together. Time permitting :)

Good work, your cinemaphotograhic skills are very good, knowing where to place the cam etc.

Glad to trigger off a creative need in You! I'll take a look and share a thought with pleasure.

I don't work in the illustrative industry, though I sometimes do some commissions. What I do, I mainly do for pleasure, not money -- strange thing in today's world, now -- and I think I have the greatest feel of acomplishement when someone tells me he or she likes my work;)

Yeah, well said.

So judging by what you said, are we going to see three installments to the finish?

I think what the next person say's below is really true, its rare to see something that's well done and actually has the base for an interesting story also. I think most people start off really promising then for genuine reasons often fail to produce anything greater than half complete ideas.

So how long did it take you to produce the first chapter?

I said that i would try something myself, well i've tried to create a basic style:

http://thedaveidentity.co.uk/images/web/comic1.jpg

For the moment this has no plot or anything just a style. I wanted to break it up a little and make it a little painty like. Though the only trouble been i always get carried away and it ends up looking too much like a single piece of art. This one is supposed to be a double page spread perhaps. Just an idea. The greatest trouble is trying to interporate ideas from your head to the page.

Don't know how you do it :)

I've just seen your wind weaver project, wow, you really must have a lot of ideas flying around in your head. I have ideas, just there lost in a very dense cloud, and their invisible! :)

Well sorry for once again filling up your journal with random thoughts and stuff.

Very interesting work, keep it up. You seem inspired by Dave Mckeans work?

- Dave.

That's a very interesting, painted-like style. I especially like the 'messy' speech bubbles (though I'd consider using a different text font, but that's just me. I have an aversion to Comic Sans, I've been using it at the very beginning). The problem with the artistic style is that it takes an awful lot of time to get to the point you know a page is done.

Still, I love sample page. Very atmospheric.

As for the ideas interpolated on the page... It's not always that peachy. I have an idea in my head: an ideal page. When i start creating it, the idea changes. Some things are impossible for me to deliver. Some POV's too extreme. The lighting is never perfect at first. What comes after, the resulting page is an outcome of several compromises, my own personal limitations and the software drawbacks... (and sometimes it all goes 'delete')

How much does it take me to create a whole chapter? The first chapter stated off a long time ago and then i dropped it (somewhere along page 10) and had to get back to studies and work (aka 'real life'). I assume a whole new chapter will take me about two weeks (counting about 30 pages, like the last one). That's why i decided to have a monthly update schedule, just to be at the safe side when I can't meet the deadline.

And yes, I do have ideas flying in my head, dozens of them... But no time to have them all verbalized, unfortunatelly...

Hello! I just found your comic today, and I'm absolutely in love with it!!

I've never read a comic before that was in 3D, so when I saw it on Online Comics, I was a little skeptical to check it out (usually I find that 3D comics end up looking too pixelized/grainy with sharp edges, or the characters look too blocky) But this wasn't the case at all with your comic!! The characters are all very beautiful and smooth! Your pages are of high quality! And I love the way you illustrate magic! The coloring is beautiful, and I must say, the plot has me intrigued as well~ ^^

Your comic is very gorgeous, and I'm quite excited to read more! ♥

I personally like the idea of updating in blocks of chapters (or even half-chapters if you think whole chapters might take too long) because I find that with comics that update page by page (and not daily) over time it's easy for the reader to lose sense of the story, because it's been too long since they've read the last few pages. When you get a block of pages, especially with an action/drama comic, it's all a very 'BAM- in your face!' type of reaction, and I think much more enjoyable- it certainly makes the excitement/suspense of what's to happen next greater, you know what I mean?

But seriously though, I've read a lot of comics (I still read a lot of comics ^^) and I've never ever read anything like yours before!! You are very talented, and I look forward to more from you :D

Thank You!

I'm still optimistic about updating in chapter blocks, the work goes steady forward and the second chapter should be ready by the middle of July. Just as I planned;)

As for 3D comics -- there are some on the net worth taking a second look. The most prominent, I think, is Dreamland Chronicles, done with original 3d models, not Poser (like me, and everyone else;)). It's much lighter in mood and very fairy-tale like (which is not my usual cup of tea) but I simply adore the skill and humour of the creator. Here's the link: http://www.thedreamlandchronicles.com/

I thought once of creating a complete list of Poser-made online comics, but I think a more competent person should do it. For the time being, there's a decent list on http://poserguide.nimprodaction.com/news
