The progress so far...

Today i realized the sad truth: I don't do one page for up to two hours. It actually took me half of the day to do two pages. Oh dear.

I need to get a faster computer. Or stop listening to WinAmp while working...

Good news: chapter two is growing. I don't think it'll be more than 30 pages long, but it already has 7. And a cover. Here's another teaser :

the cover with the title

And no, Maeve did not change her hair-style permanently: she just ties her hair when at work.

Hey Nice cover, love the themed covers, very simple and strong. I still say it, you have a bright future in the creative industry :-)

I wouldn't worry too much about constricting yourself to a time frame, trust me, if people believe the final product would be better, they'll happilly wait a few weeks i'm sure.

Take time and don't rush it, if possible get another pair of eyes to look over it, it's always a good idea to get someone else to read your work, trust me from experience, someone else reading your work can open up ideas you never thought of.

Keep it up.

- Dave.

Thanks! I've decided to stick with the white background + a character + colour scheme, and not go into the chapter-influenced covers, inspired by some mangas. Not in art, but in the style of presentation and the impact those covers had on me. I'm glad it worked out.

I generally don't rush things (too much), though recently I've had some real-life job commissions and extra work (during which I learned some useful things about printing). That was time-consuming... Useful, but really, really time-consuming.

My beta-readers are all in awe, which is never a good thing;) I'm just checking if they can get all the plot points and hints about the world right. I know how my world works from A to Z and sometimes I may not notice a point where misunderstanding may occur. Novels and short stories are much easier to handle, in that respect.

Hey, so how's it going? Still working on My Mayfly? I just saw an advert today advertising a mobile company (or something like that) and it goes on about a day in the life of a Mayfly, and how the mayfly lives his life to the full in the 24 hours that it lives, which is aparantly how long they live for. Sucks to be a mayfly i guess :-)
So i was thinking about your story when i saw this and was wondering if you knew this fact (24hr life span) and if this meant our little young heroine was only alive for 24 hours? Oops! hope i didn't just spoil the ending for everyone :-)

Glad to here your getting *Real* world work also (drawing for living never seems like work for me, just fun :-) Prints a real pain in the butthole to understand, i've been in the biz for six years now and i still don't get half the lingo, 4 clr process this, two line that, spot colour here, special there! sendd your head in a loop :-)

Well sorry for filling up half your page :-) Can't wait to see the rest of your story. If you need someone to proof read your story i'd be glad to help, though i can understand a desire to keep it under wraps :-)

Catch ya later - Dave.

Hey!
The work is progressing (16 pages already, if I don't finish by Sunday, I'll upload as many pages as I have so far...).

And yes, the very short life span of the mayfly is important, though not in the exact way you're thinking... Let's just say, that from our point of view, a mayfly lives just 24 hours of our time... But among the mayflies, the same time-span is their whole life... It's all relative (and the notion of relativity is an important one...).
